When Ernie Schroeder began investing and managing apartment buildings in 1969, he built the company on the foundations to “provide the highest level quality and value in apartment living.”  This means that as a professional apartment management company, our focus is to create a beautiful community where our residents can call home.

A beautiful community starts with the property’s presence (curb appeal and community appeal), the apartment unit’s presence (high quality workmanship, appeal, cleanliness, etc.) and the helpful and friendly on-site staff members.

Employees of our Management Team, from the Executives to the Regional Managers to all employees understand the important of providing the highest level quality and value in apartment living.  We are reminded in our staff meetings and constant training to uphold this high standard.   We create policies for inspections (property and apartment units), training, and personal visits to the properties to review the conditions of our communities.

Some of our policies and standards come straight from observing Ernie. As he visits the communities, he makes notes for improvements (landscaping, lighting, painting, window replacement, cleanliness of properties, etc.) and cleanliness of the communities (laundry rooms, rental office, parking lot, etc. ) If there is trash laying on the ground, Ernie will personally pick up the item and dispose of it.  This is an example of how much Ernie cares for each community.  Additionally, as a leader Ernie sets the highest standards and leads by example.

This month, we recognize two properties that stand out a little more than others: Continental (La Habra) and New Orleans (Whittier).  On any given day, as you approach Continental and New Orleans, you can recognized that these properties are extremely well managed.  Some examples that set these communities apart are: the glass entry doors leading into the community and rental office is spotless, the communities are free of trash on the ground, free of graffiti, free of cobwebs, carports are free of debris and oil stains, and the storage rooms are clean and organized.  We congratulate the following SMC Team members:

New Orleans (#234) – Elizabeth Carrasco, Community Manager and Alicia Smith-Aguado, Porter and Tammy Cyran, Regional Manager.

Continental (#517) – Victoria Tristan, Community Manager and Mardin Murcia, Maintenance and Angela Erminpour, Regional Manager.

We sincerely want to thank all SMC Team employees for working so diligently to carry out a part of our mission statement.  Our desire in the coming months is to recognize communities and employees in the great work that is taking place out our communities.
