On May 7th at Fullerton Marriott, approximately 100 employees gathered together for Schroeder Management Company’s Annual Seminar and Awards Luncheon. What a great time to see each other face to face and to be encouraged by our motivating speaker, Angel Rogers!
The topic of Angel’s presentation was, “Building Your Brand: Mastering Marketing and Customer Care.” We were encouraged to consider ourselves as a business entity known as “Me, Inc.” and as a brand, we were tasked to consider what we want this to look like. Angel also asked, “What does your personal brand mean to your company?”
This question was a challenge to ask ourselves what we want to be known for and how to make ourselves stand out from the crowd. She used Dr. Seuss’ whimsical quote, “Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You!” A coloring activity gave us an opportunity to illustrate what we personally bring to the table. This resulted in some very impressive interpretations! Recognizing our residents as customers and focusing on customer care was also emphasized.
Some of the key tips and quotes for this topic included:
• “Put on a show…show genuine concern, show your appreciation, show your integrity and show your respect.”
• “The groundwork for providing great customer care comes down to courtesy, caring and willingness to serve.”
• Customer expectations + service performance = customer satisfaction (Always follow through!)
• The best way to solve problems: Remain calm, don’t take it personally, actively sympathize, apologize gracefully and find a solution
Following the seminar, we were treated to a delicious buffet lunch with time to relax and visit with each other and a photo booth with props was made available for team pictures. After lunch we participated in a group challenge. This turned out to be the highlight of the day as the community managers and maintenance staff worked together in small groups to build structures out of masking tape and popsicle sticks. The results were both impressive and comical! The challenge was judged on group communication as well as the height & integrity of the structures.
The winning group consisted of:
Maria Jaramillo-Cordova from Oak Tree Apartments
Virginia Aceves from Downey Village
Nancy & Gregg Andrews from Idaho Springs
Fredy Barahona & Rogelio Palma form La Habra Woods
Ivan Roman form Mel Alma
